I’m doing a persuasive speech and this would really help me out.
If you think animals should be adopted from shelters, reblog.
If you think animals should be bought from pet stores, like.
My dog is from the shelter and he is the best doggy in the world
Both my kitties are shelter babies. :)
All my cats have been from the humane society/animal services. (Thor and Loki were from a pet shop, but they were there as a Humane Society adoption program, not from some weird kitten mill.) I’m going to mention one of my cats in particular.
About two weeks before I saw him and fell instantly in love, Jack (though he wasn’t named as such then) was found by animal services wandering through an industrial park. He was malnourished, he had an ear infection, an eye infection, and he’d been covered in what the girl at the shelter said “smelled like paint thinner.”
The first time I held him, he purred.
It took him a month before he would come out of the basement, and now, he purrs so loudly sometimes that you can hear him across the room. He still hates our dog, six years later (though our dog is too stupid to realize it. He still wags his tail and smiles whenever Jack hisses at him), but he was the first adult cat to really warm to the kittens, and he cuddles with me almost every night.
So please, give shelter pets a chance. Even if they seem like they’re broken, they need love. <3
